Doctor Who as a VR game

"Doctor Who" is being realised as a VR game. The VR studio Maze Theory is currently working on this. "Doctor Who: The Edge of Time" will be released in September 2019 for Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, HTC Vive, Vive Cosmos and PlayStation VR.

The Doctor in the game is voiced by the current incarnation of the popular character, the actress Jodie Whittaker. As the developers add, the Doctor will have to prevent the end of the universe. Players will have to obtain a series of time crystals in order to repair the fabric of space-time. Fans are promised perplexing puzzles and, of course, the TARDIS controlled. As a friend of the famous TV series, you will also encounter familiar enemies such as the Daleks and the Weeping Angels. Unfortunately, the first trailer does not yet provide any gameplay scenes.

"VR is the perfect home for a truly immersive Doctor Who adventure. Fans and newcomers alike will be able to experience the Doctor Who universe like never before. They will work alongside the Doctor and face enemies new and old. Gaming is an important part of the future of Doctor Who and allows us to tell new and exciting stories beyond the TV screen," said Bradley Crooks, Head of Digital Entertainment & Games at BBC Studios.
