Oculus Rift S announced

On the Game Developers Conference 2019 in San Francisco this week saw the launch of the VR headset Oculus Rift S which will go on sale in spring 2019 at a price of 399 US dollars.

Oculus Rift S is a revised version of the normal VR headset Oculus Rift, although there is also talk of an evolution. What is certain, however, is that all games and experiences will work with both VR glasses. There will be no exclusive titles.

Oculus Rift S offers a higher resolution (2560×1440 instead of 2160×1200 on Oculus Rift), which should lead to a reduced fly screen effect. However, the refresh rate had to be lowered from 90Hz to 80Hz.

Furthermore, a higher wearing comfort, a better weight distribution and a single-cable system are promised. Oculus Rift S also delivers an integrated audio system as with Oculus Go and Oculus Quest, but those who want to may also connect their own headphones.

Oculus Rift S has inside-out tracking, which means that external sensors are not necessary. This means that the revised Oculus Touch controllers are also detected in the room. On the official side you can find more information.
