VR Test Towermax Fitness - A punch for the artist!

That Towermax Fitness delivers what it promises, I realised after just a few minutes. The fun factor was high and time flew by.

After a great introduction from Sven, I quickly got my bearings on the virtual tower. However, when the first soundtrack started and I tried my first punches and evasive manoeuvres, he quickly called me back: "Wait a minute, this is a bit nasty!" We had already selected the advanced mode. Once we had selected "moderate", we continued. I quickly learnt how the punches and kicks worked.

But dodging was really difficult. Every time an element crashed into me, visibility became blurred and it was all the more difficult to recognise which side to dodge to. Although it would have been easier to just stay crouched with the fists and crossbars, I kept trying to "pop up" to enhance the boxing feeling. To be honest, dodging and reacting is also one of my weaknesses as we tend to be slow and controlled in my martial arts style. So I could learn something with the application!

Does the application improve the punching and kicking technique? Well, you can either make an effort or not. In some cases - and Sven warned of this - the targets are extremely unnatural, so that you hit bottom left followed by top right. What could be exciting would perhaps be the evaluation of the strike line. This is tracked and displayed one-to-one with a tail in the VR.

Precisely because the elements appear randomly, the game remains exciting for a very long time. Another exciting factor is, of course, the incentive to constantly improve. The improvement can be seen from the height of the tower, which increases or decreases in real time. The exact height can be seen on the display. You can also see how high your heart rate is, how long you have been fighting and which song is currently playing.

Sven said that you need five to ten workouts to really enjoy it; about three to get into it. If you want it more intense, you can switch from moderate to hardcore, choose kick mode or even wear additional weight cuffs.

I definitely had a lot of fun after the first few minutes. By the end of the game, I had reached a whopping 26 metres. Covered in sweat, I left the set to my partner after half an hour.
