VR goes bumper cars

A classic bumper car becomes a ground-breaking world first: for the first time, visitors to the Schloss Thurn Adventure Park can not only run around in a virtual world, but also drive their own fantastic vehicle.

We look somewhat enviously at the VR out at Legoland once again on our neighbours: innovations in the leisure industry are often found in German theme parks - including a virtual reality world first this year: the company responsible for the first virtual reality roller coaster in a theme park is creating the first virtual reality autoscooter in 2019 in collaboration with HolodeckVR. This will be unveiled at the start of the next season from 13 April 2019 in the tranquil town of Heroldsbach in the Thurn Castle Adventure Park near Nuremberg.

In the virtual scooter arena, visitors not only compete against each other, but also against giant robots that get in the way of the team. These opponents can be defeated through teamwork and numerous extras and upgrades that players can collect and use. The speed experienced by the vehicles is many times faster than that of the actual bumper cars. The arena appears much larger and leads past cliffs and gigantic chasms.

"Thanks to the combined expertise of the VR Coaster and Holodeck VR teams, we were able to create a completely new, interactive VR ride experience," says Inahber Benedikt Graf von Bentzel.
