The Swiss start-up Sycoforge was at VRDAYS with the development team. We spoke with Michela Rimensberger CEO, Producer, Co-founder.
How were the VRDays for you?
Very pleasant! Compared to other trade fairs and conventions we have attended, the atmosphere was much more relaxed. It wasn't as "rushed" as at the Zurich Game Show, for example. Despite the smaller setting, I think the quality of the contributions here beats the quantity of other trade fairs.
What was the benefit for you as a company or also personally?
We were able to make many new contacts, or even meet people who came to see us. We were able to get valuable feedback from a wide range of visitors - this was particularly valuable.
I never really had the time to look at other contributions, but I found the atmosphere very pleasant and could almost "enjoy" being at work a little 😉.
Which visitors were you most pleased with?
We were particularly pleased that the audience was so diverse! As already mentioned, this gave us the opportunity to get feedback from a broader interest group. We had an archaeologist at our stand who specialises in Swiss history and would like to work with us, as well as fans who have been "visiting" us again and again since the first fair and were there specifically because of us. Such encounters are of course a pleasure.
How did the visitors react to your attraction?
Basically enthusiastic. I thought it was funny, I heard the comparison "it looks like Skyrim" more often at VRDAYS than at a game fair.
Did you also visit other attractions and if so, what did you particularly like?
Unfortunately, I didn't really have time to go into more detail about the other attractions, but I thought the idea of the lounge was great!
Is there also criticism?
Personally, I can't think of anything right now.
To whom would you recommend the VRDAYS?
Anyone who is interested in the subject or simply wants to get to know VR.
Please complete the sentence: At VRDAYS 2019 ...
... we will definitely be there again!
How are you getting on with Arafinn?
In about 2 - 3 months we will release our demo (first PC / Oculus, PS / PSVR will follow soon) and then start our Kickstarter campaign soon. The storybooks will also be coming to tablet soon, along with a new story.
Good luck!
