US airline offers passengers VR goggles

To make the flight a little more enjoyable, US carrier Alaska Airlines is offering its passengers VR glasses to pass the time, but only on selected routes and only in first class.

The Allosky VR headset zum Einsatz, das eine Auflösung von 1920 x 1080 Bildpunkten pro Auge unterstützt. Man kann darauf entweder normale Filme auf einer grossen virtuellen Leinwand anschauen oder 360-Grad-Inhalte erleben. Die Passagiere können unter anderem Filme wie „Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri“ oder „Ready Player One“ angucken.

The VR glasses also support Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube and Hulu. However, one Dutch investigation have already shown that passengers wearing VR glasses could be too distracted to notice an emergency situation or follow the crew's instructions.
