With the new AR and VR app EFFZEH 360, fans of 1. FC Köln will be even closer to the club and the team in the future.
FC is the first German professional club to launch a special app with information and entertainment in virtual reality and augmented reality, complementing the existing FC app. With EFFZEH 360, FC fans can now experience the club's history in an enhanced virtual museum. The team line-up on match day can be projected into the real world via the smartphone screen - and thus becomes tangible.
"We tailor our offers for fans to their preferences and user behaviour. New technologies such as augmented reality offer our fans excellent opportunities to be even closer to the action. We want to take advantage of these opportunities at an early stage," said FC managing director Alexander Wehrle.
"Unlike virtual reality, which is usually only really fun with the appropriate glasses, FC fans can use augmented reality without any additional devices - all they need is their smartphone. We see great potential in this technology to bring our fans closer to the FC experience in different ways," says Jonathan Müller, Team Leader Club Media at FC.
EFFZEH 360 will gradually be equipped with further content such as 360-degree videos in the coming months and is available for download at the following links: Android / Apple.
VR seems to be establishing itself more and more in the sports sector. In football in particular, the new technology is already being used in various areas, as our Reports show. Which Swiss football club will be the first to make headlines with the new technology?
