AR game Ghostbusters World announced

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Ghost Corps have announced the development of the AR games "Ghostbusters World", which will be released for mobile devices. Publisher 4:33 and partner studio NextAge are responsible for development.

"Pokémon GO" is already very successful with catching pocket monsters and the game principle could celebrate another success with ghosts. The gameplay of "Ghostbusters World" allows players to fight and capture hundreds of ghosts from all dimensions of the brand, including the films, TV shows, comics, theme parks and video games. The title will even introduce new and unique ghosts that have never been seen before.

"The Ghostbusters universe is rich with characters and Ghostbusters World is the perfect medium to get to know these characters in a whole new dimension," said Ivan Reitman of Ghost Corps, who was also the director and producer of the original "Ghostbusters"-film.

Jamie Stevens, Executive Vice President Worldwide Consumer Products at Sony Pictures Entertainment, added: "Ghostbusters is a heritage brand and we're excited to be working with 4:33 to expand the Ghostbusters universe into an AR smartphone game. Ghostbusters is the perfect brand and has the best content to utilise AR technology."

Sung-Jin Han, CEO of 4:33, said: "We are thrilled to be working with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Ghost Corps to bring the legendary Ghostbusters franchise to life. Fans will have the opportunity to take a walk through an immersive game environment that blends our everyday world with the many ghosts from the Ghostbusters universe. It's an unrivalled experience!"
