NextVRwhich specialises in live streaming of sports, is expanding its offering to include a VR series in which a team of ghost hunters searches for paranormal phenomena. In the process, well-known US haunted houses and locations are visited.
The start is made by the Pennhurst Asylum in Pennsylvania. The hospital was opened in 1908 for children with mental and physical disabilities. Many cases of abuse and scandals led to the closure of Pennhurst Asylum at the end of 1987. Since then, witnesses say unexplained events have been occurring. These include eerie voices, ghostly apparitions and things like that.
The Ghostbusters in VR series "Paranormal Evidence" are accompanied by US journalist and linguist Jack Kassewitz. To ensure that the viewer doesn't miss anything, 360-degree infrared cameras are installed to follow the team's every move and make out something even in dark rooms.
The 30-minute episodes are intended to capture bizarre and disturbing events. The first episode of "Paranormal Evidence" will be made available for free via the "NextVR" app as early as 1 August 2017. Currently, Google Daydream and Samsung Gear VR are supported, but support for stationary VR glasses is being worked on.
