Star Wars fans take note: Disney is presenting a completely new concept for a Star Wars theme park at its own d23 Expo. In addition, you can look forward to a special Jedi training with AR.
Disney is planning a completely new Star Wars experience for Disney World in Florida. Guests will slip into the role of a protagonist from the Star Wars universe and even get their own storyline. Even the windows in the hotel only offer a view of the sea of stars. This sounds like an officially licensed - as they used to say - live role-playing game in an authentic setting. Today, the concept is dubbed an "immersive" Star Wars hotel.
The hotel is part of a large Star Wars area in the Florida park, which is still in the planning stage. A video shows a model of the new area.
Jedi Training with Lenovo
Disney hints that augmented reality could also play a role in the new park. A teaser video shows a woman with some kind of AR glasses on her head preparing for Jedi training in the style of Luke Skywalker.

In addition to Jedi Training, other apps will appear, including a variant of the "Holochess" known from the first Star Wars film.
The still unknown glasses are manufactured by Lenovo. On the Website from Lenovo, you can sign up for a newsletter with more information. According to Vrodo, the glasses are not a true augmented or mixed reality in the style of Hololens, but a simple optical trick in which the light emitted by the smartphone display mounted on the top of the helmet is cast into the field of vision of the person wearing the glasses via a mirror. The display of the Meta 2 AR glasses works according to the same principle. Additional tracking is apparently not integrated. However, since Lenovo also wants to offer a standalone VR goggle with Google Daydream support at the end of the year, we can assume that the company will also achieve a reasonable tracking quality with the AR glasses.
If you look at the presentation at Disney's own d23 Expo on YouTube, you can see that unfortunately the graphics in the demo also look rather old-fashioned. But here, too, Disney is behind the project and this can only bring great potential.
