The "Intuitive Car Finder" from Volkswagen

The creative agency SCHACHZUG created an Emotional Intelligence Showcase with VR for Volkswagen AG, in which the user makes his vehicle and colour selection with his subconscious. The so-called "Intuitive Car Finder" turns the process of finding and deciding on a vehicle into a new experience.

At the IAA in Frankfurt, the "Intuitive Car Finder"was used for the first time. The vehicle advisor of the future inspired by the immersion in a completely unique world and also by the accurate results. Often, interested visitors came to the stand with a specific vehicle in mind. And indeed - the Intuitive Car Finder usually confirmed that the model matched the subconscious wishes and needs of the interested parties.

From the virtual brand room to vehicle selection

To find out which model is most suitable, the user sits comfortably in a chair for about five minutes in a virtual brand room. After a brief explanation of the "Intuitive Car Finder" by the dubbing voice of Optimus Prime, the actual decision-making process begins, which is like a visit to the cinema. Emotional scenes, which incidentally do not involve a car at all, serve as neural stimuli. The film lasts a total of only 90 seconds and contains about 3 second scenes such as a sunset, cyclists or a family. EEG tracking is used to measure the brain's reactions to the individual scenes; an AI algorithm then assigns the emotional perception to a suitable model. And the user already sees in 3D which vehicle his subconscious would like to choose in which colour.

Ron Schneider, Creative Director and owner of the agency SCHACHZUG, says: "This project is a real foretaste of tangible and individualised future technologies. People are not being replaced by them, but are becoming increasingly networked with them. Whether it's Facebook or Elon Musk, the interest in E.I. Emotional Intelligence solutions is great. Because they hold endless possibilities to simplify people's lives efficiently and meaningfully."

In the short video clip you can see how testers react to it and, of course, again how the whole thing works. It's really incredible how quickly this technology works, considering that many people themselves have trouble feeling their emotions or making decisions safely and quickly.
