HTC Vive gets lighter

HTC is constantly optimising its VR goggles Vive. However, this is seen as an ongoing process, which is why no major announcements are usually made. In other words, small improvements are constantly being made that do not equate to a completely new version. According to a recent report from Road to VR are the units currently manufactured by HTC Vive a little easier in the meantime.

To be more precise: HTV Vive currently weighs 15 per cent less than the original launch model and now comes in at 470 grams. This means that HTC Vive weighs the same as its major competitor, the Oculus Rift. According to HTC, the weight of the VR headset has been reduced thanks to various new components and improvements in production. The connection cable to the PC is also new compared to the market launch. The cable harness, which was a little too cumbersome, has been merged into a single, more compact cable. This reduces the weight even further, in addition to the 15 per cent already mentioned. Of course, it should be noted that wearing comfort is not solely dependent on the weight of a VR headset.
