VR within reach with the Senso Glove

Until now, we could only hear and see virtual reality. With our eyes wide open, our ears pricked up and our hands on the clunky controllers, control was unfortunately limited to the conventional buttons and gestures. But the topic of virtual reality invites innovation and the "Senso Glove", a glove as VR controller, takes another step in the right direction.

The approach is not new; already in recent years we could observe how with "Control VR", "Gloveone" and "PowerClaw" attempts were made to take our hands and sense of touch into virtual reality. While the Control VR project disappeared into nothingness after some complications, Gloveone and PowerClaw initially trumped with the accuracy of the tracking system and with the ability to let us feel heat and cold as well as small vibrations. The gloves used by NASA "Manus VR" finally surprised with being completely cordless and even hand-washable.

The Senso Glove, which is still in development, also offers accurate, camera-less tracking of hand and finger movements, haptic feedback and a battery life of 10 hours. The final product is expected to be available for around $300, putting it in the same price range as its competitors.
