A depopulated city
There is a strange silence in the streets of Paris. No people far and wide. Supposedly the city has been depopulated for over fifty years. No more living creatures in the city on the Seine? Not quite, because nature is reclaiming the habitat and many animals can be found in the street canyons. There are also all kinds of exotic animals: zebras and flamingos share the increasingly green capital of France with bears and various feathered creatures.

Alone over Paris

The first tasks are quite simple. Exploring your neighbourhood is on the agenda. You skilfully steer your bird through a course marked by rings. No tight turns, no obstacles stand in your way. In later levels, of course, you will be challenged a lot more. Tight turns are on the agenda and the rings also move. If you fly perfectly through the centre of one of these rings, you will also get a short speed boost. However, if you are too fast and fly into one of the many obstacles, the race is over. This is especially annoying if it happens towards the end of a race.

Variety is also provided in the race locations. In the course of the campaign, you don't just do your laps above the rooftops and the street canyons of Paris. You also go underground. The French metro, the well-known catacombs and mysterious ruins are on the racing schedule. Particularly in the narrow tubes of the metro, you need to have a lot of instinctive feeling or even the ability to pitch your car.
Interestingly, we were spared simulation sickness during the entire campaign. Perhaps also because during the races you concentrate mainly on the rings and less on the actual flight. The spectators will probably have a different experience. The races through the Paris metro are a particular challenge for the stomach.
Air battles
Early on in the campaign you will be confronted with hostile feathered creatures. Vultures circle over the city and want to get at you. With a focused battle cry, however, you sweep these scavengers out of the sky. The rather lame animals are no real challenge. This changes with the appearance of the nocturnal bats at the latest! They defend themselves and of course shoot back. Skilful dodging helps, and your sound shield also does you a good service, provided your timing is right. For a perfect score, you not only have to eliminate all the enemies, but also be really quick. Only then will you receive the three coveted stars.

In escort missions, you look after the well-being of your partner. He is attacked by hostile flying creatures. Sweep them out of the sky in time! Otherwise the mission will quickly be over and you will have to start it again. But beware, you will also be attacked from time to time!
We needed just under 3-4 hours for the campaign. So it is relatively short. However, you still have a lot to do in Paris. In typical ubisoft fashion, you have to find feathers scattered all over the city or hunt fish. In addition, there are lots of extra missions and master challenges. The high score lists provide an incentive that should not be underestimated.
Lonely multiplayer
In the multiplayer sessions, we seemed to be somewhat dogged by bad luck. Unfortunately, we rarely found enough players for a 3vs3 match. But that could well be because the title for PS VR is still too short on the market and the distribution of the corresponding hardware is still a bit thin. It's a shame, really, because the game has a lot of potential.
