Exhibition visit at Herzog & de Meuron with augmented reality

The Herzog & de Meuron show of works could be visited with an augmented reality (AR) app.

"Look behind the scenes of Herzog & de Meuron and immerse yourself in one of the most revered architecture practices in the world."

This is how the Herzog & de Meuron exhibition at the Royal Academy London was announced. Since 14 July, an exhibition at London's Royal Academy has been dedicated to the work of Basel architects Herzog & de Meuron. This Sunday, the exhibition comes to an end. Thanks to an augmented reality app, the exhibition also had a digital and interactive component. More than 10,000 visitors installed the app on their smartphones and thus experienced Herzog & de Meuron's architecture in a new way - for example, with 360-degree images, with 3D models of buildings such as the Elbphilharmonie or with a walk-in 1:1 model of a room of the new children's hospital in Zurich.

For the development of the application, Herzog & de Meuron collaborated for the second time with the Zurich AR/VR agency Bandara, as it writes in a press release. The result of the collaboration was very well received at the exhibition in London. The NZZ am Sonntag, for example, wrote: "The third room with the Zurich Children's Hospital is also a stunner in other respects. Because here you can walk through the future rooms of the hospital with the help of augmented reality and your own mobile phone. There's the bed, there's the washbasin, here's the meeting room, whose floor-to-ceiling windows offer a view of the greenery."
