In its fourth edition, DIGITAL ART ZURICH once again presents outstanding artists from all over the world as well as remarkable talents with installation works, performances in concerts, special events, panels and workshops. For 10 days from 19 October to 29 October 2023, digital art - including VR, of course - can be experienced in all its forms along tram line 4.
This year's edition of Digital Art Zurich, or "DA Z" for short, gets to the bottom of artificial realities, their possibilities and dangers. Nationally and internationally renowned artists will present interactive installations, virtual reality experiences as well as workshops and talks on this topic.
Tram line 4 as location
Visitors can experience the festival at six locations along tram line 4. Among others, the Wasserkirche, the Kunsthaus and the Löwenbräu Silo have been chosen as venues. A "special event" will take place in the Wasserkirche, according to the organisers. The audio-visual performance "Disrupted Scenes" already took place last year on the stage of the Opera House. Now it will be performed in the Wasserkirche.
The opening vernissage will take place on Thursday, 19 October, at 6 p.m. in the Museum für Gestaltung with performances.
Popular VR glasses
The virtual reality experiences were already very popular last year. These can now also be experienced in the Wasserkirche. The so-called VR glasses allow visitors to immerse themselves in colourful fantasy worlds. The Zurich University of the Arts is showing how machine learning and artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly important as part of the "DA Z".
