SchoolHub App

Getting students excited about life sciences

The app called SchoolHub won three awards at the Best of Swiss Apps 2022: Silver in the Innovation category and one bronze each in the Extended Reality and Functionality categories. The app uses mixed and augmented reality to encourage pupils to start their day of visiting the Novartis Campus in a playful way and to immerse themselves in the topic of life sciences with all their senses.

The SchoolHub app was awarded Silver in Innovation, Bronze in Extended Reality (AR), Bronze in Functionality at this year's Best of Swiss Apps Awards.
Bellprat Partner developed and implemented the SchoolHub for Novartis on behalf of aprentas, the training association for basic and advanced training in scientific, technical and commercial professions. Interaction designer Arnau Bellprat was responsible for the project. "We are very happy that we were able to realise our idea of knowledge transfer for the next generation in this project. The recognition with three awards confirms our work and we are proud of this team achievement with internal and external partners", the partner of the Zurich agency is pleased to say.Since the beginning of April 2022, the Novartis Pavilion, which is open to the public, has given interested visitors an insight into science and the achievements of modern medicine. The life science exhibition on the first floor of the two-storey pavilion is called "Wonders of Medicine".

For the researchers of the future: Bellprat Partner stages SchoolHub

On the ground floor, the so-called SchoolHub welcomes curious pupils. The introduction to the topic of life sciences is playful and designed as an eventful journey of discovery with all the senses. The teaching of the complex content is based on an interactive quiz. With the support of Mixed Reality, life-size organs, for example, are supplemented with virtual content. The exhibits from the 3D printer are read in by the young visitors with an iPad. The sophisticated algorithm then plays out additional information, bringing the organs virtually to life. Large portraits of scientists from various fields of work symbolically form the framework for the individual learning stations. Scanned with the tablet, the scientists come alive and talk about their daily research work.
