Bitforge launches AR platform for enterprises

With the augmented reality (AR) platform Yago, the Zurich-based agency Bitforge aims to significantly simplify the creation of AR models for websites and online shops, thereby opening up uncomplicated access to augmented reality for companies.

Does the TV match the chest of drawers or the carpet in the bedroom match the colour of the curtains? One click and the question is answered. At the touch of a button, the product can be placed and inspected within your own four walls using the AR app called Yago.

The Zurich augmented reality agency Bitforge launches Yago, a comprehensive AR platform for companies. Yago is designed to make it much easier to create photorealistic 3D visualisations of any product. The resulting AR models can then be integrated into the company's own website or online shop via copy paste and virtually displayed in the respective environment by customers via smartphone. The whole process takes no longer than embedding a YouTube video.

Creating AR models has never been so easy

However, not every company currently has AR-capable 3D models of its products. Yago offers the option of ordering these from them. All Yago needs is the link to the product page in the shop with photos and dimensions. The photorealistic AR models are ready within a few days.

Yago provides an analysis tool so that it is always clear how and to what extent the AR models are being used by users. Everything is documented and summarised at a glance in the statistics centre.

To view the whole thing in AR, of course, you need an AR-capable device. The centrepiece of the website is the AR button. This is where all of Yago's intelligence is located - it recognises whether the user is surfing the website with an AR-capable device or not. If so, the camera with the product is automatically opened and the placement process begins. If it is not an AR-capable device (e.g. a laptop), a QR code appears, which can then be easily scanned with a smartphone.

The 3D models can also be integrated into existing image galleries. In addition to the AR functionalities, this gives customers the opportunity to view the product from all sides in the image gallery.

Pushing e-commerce

With Yago, Bitforge wants to massively simplify access to augmented reality for companies and enable them to utilise the advantages of the technology without major investments. Swiss e-commerce companies can thus bridge the gap between online shopping and physical reality for their customers. According to the Augmented Reality Barometer 2021 from the University of Lucerne, this meets a growing need. In the coming months, Bitforge also plans to expand the Yago family with further AR applications that will benefit B2B use cases in particular.
