Vermillion: Malen in VR

Vermillion: Painting in VR

Publisher The Aviary and developer Thomas van den Berge have released "Vermillion" for the artistically talented VR users. This is a VR painting simulator.

"Vermillion" is available now via Steam available for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index and Windows Mixed Reality. The implementation for the Oculus Quest platform will unfortunately only follow next year (Q1 2022). "Vermillion" is thus a VR painting simulator that aims to bring the analogue joy of oil painting into the digital world. This is to be accessible for beginners as well as experienced (digital) artists.

"Mix the desired colour on the palette, make a mark on the canvas with the large selection of unique brushes and start your first (or next) masterpiece," it says. You can mix colours just like in real life, while even the wet-on-wet technique is possible.

The further description of the technique: "It mixes the paint not only on the palette but also on the canvas, so you can create perfectly smooth gradients with just a few strokes. Use a dry brush to blend the colours further or move the paint around to create a variety of effects, from reflections to grass." And it all seems to work quite well, as the user reviews on Steam are very positive.
