VR games are rarely made into films, but this has actually happened with Ubisoft's "Werewolves Within". The film's first trailer promises a classic horror flick that will certainly not be nominated for the Oscars, but could be a lot of fun. However, this is a regular production and not a VR film.
Ubisoft and IFC Films will release "Werewolves Within" in cinemas on 25 June 2021 and on digital platforms on 2 July 2021, with this information initially applying to the North American market. Josh Ruben ("Scare Me") is responsible for directing "Werewolves Within", while the screenplay was written by Mishna Wolff ("I'm Down").
"Werewolves Within" takes place in the small town of Beaverfield. When a snowstorm traps a group of residents in a local inn, it's up to newly arrived forest ranger Finn (played by Sam Richardson) and postal worker Cecily (played by Milana Vayntrub) to keep the peace and uncover the truth behind a mysterious creature that has begun terrorising the small community.
