17-BIT has announced that the VR survival game "Song in the Smoke" is currently in development. It will be released in spring 2021 for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and Oculus Quest.
According to the developers, the world of "Song in the Smoke" is beautiful, but also very deadly. Survival is therefore the top priority. You have to forage for food, find a safe place to sleep, mix antidotes and remedies, make clothes and tools, start a fire and fend off the attacks of the various predators. "It's a dangerous world, but thanks to VR I can literally take my survival into my own hands. I eat by bringing food to my mouth. I turn herbs into medicine by crushing them with tools and pouring them into containers. And I carve by running my knife over the wood. When I need to defend myself or hunt my dinner, I can also rely on my human instincts. Firing a bow feels absolutely natural," says producer Rich McCormick.
