HTC has released a new next-gen Vive tracker. This is already the third generation of this technology. With up to 75 per cent longer battery life, 15 per cent less weight and a 33 per cent smaller footprint, it delivers some advantages for users.
The details according to the manufacturer: "Based on feedback from developer communities, HTC's latest Vive Tracker is smaller, lighter and boasts significantly better battery life compared to the previous generation. One charge lasts up to seven hours of continuous use with the same sub-millimetre precision and 240-degree FOV tracking - all in an even smaller package."
The new Vive Tracker is fully backwards compatible with previous generations. Retaining the same pogo pin and mounting layout as the original device, the aim is to allow easy integration with current solutions. The Vive Tracker is also fully compatible with SteamVR 2.0 and 1.0 tracking, as well as all SteamVR-based headsets. More info can be found on the official side.
"The creativity of the VR community is limitless and we've seen the Vive Tracker in use in numerous places - from industrial use to film production to sports, gaming and more. With a slimmer design and significantly increased battery life, the new Vive Tracker is even more versatile," said Graham Wheeler, General Manager, HTC EMEA.
