Necessity is the mother of invention - even with sampling promotions. Rivella uses an augmented reality game at valley stations in Swiss ski resorts to distribute product samples without personal contact.
To enable product sampling in times of the ongoing pandemic, Rivella is relying on a contactless solution with an additional fun factor. From February 2021, vending machines linked to a gesture-controlled augmented reality (AR) game will be installed at various valley stations in Swiss winter sports resorts. A Rivella will be given out as a prize after each round of the game. Rivella is cooperating with the German company SENSAPEwhich develops intelligent AR solutions for interactive customer interaction.
Sip Rivella as quickly as possible
To win the game, virtual Rivella bottles must be drunk as quickly as possible by skilfully holding a straw in the constantly moving bottle using head movements. The built-in artificial intelligence recognises gestures such as head movements and thus enables contactless game control, in which up to five players can compete at the same time. A souvenir photo can also be taken at the end of the game. A coupon printed out afterwards leads via a QR code to a microsite where further information can be read and the photo can be downloaded and shared with friends.
"Based on Rivella's slogan "Wherever your thirst is at home", we have developed a game in which players can compete in a great winter setting. This creates an intense brand experience, works via gesture control and also requires no additional staff. This gives us more security during the pandemic and still makes sampling a fun product possible," says Artur Lohrer, founder of SENSAPE. The devices are used in the Adelboden, Flumserberg, Lenk and Arosa areas.
Once again, the question arises as to why a German company has been brought in to develop the Swiss brand. But either way, we can only hope that there will be a ski season at all!
