Things have become a little more complicated with the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR. PlayStation VR is basically compatible with the next-gen console, but you have to use a free camera adapter but PS5 games will apparently not work with the VR headset.
The improved PS5 versions of "Hitman 3" and "No Man's Sky" will not be playable in VR, as has now been announced. If you want to use the titles on the PlayStation 5 in VR, you will have to do so via the backwards-compatible PS4 versions, or simply stay on the PlayStation 4. However, this means that you will have to do without technical next-gen improvements.
According to Sony Interactive Entertainment, this is because PlayStation VR is treated as a backwards-compatible device (including the Move controllers) and therefore does not support PS5 games. According to a Sony spokesperson: "We have not announced any PS5 titles for PSVR." This should mean that as long as PlayStation VR 2 is not released, no PS5 games with VR support will be released.
