Oculus Quest 2 announced

Facebook has announced Oculus Quest 2. The VR headset will be launched on 13 October 2020. Prices start at 299 US dollars and the international pre-orders have started.

Oculus Quest 2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform, with higher AI capability and 6 GB RAM. The new display offers 1832 x 1920 pixels per eye, the highest resolution to date. "With 50 per cent more pixels than the original Quest, everything from multiplayer games and productivity apps to 360-degree video looks better than ever," says Facebook. Another advantage is that Quest 2 is 10 per cent lighter and should be more comfortable to wear.

With the increased graphics performance of Oculus Quest 2, the new display is able to support 90 Hz. You can run system applications at 90 Hz from day one. The controllers are also new: "Experience VR your way with the redesigned Oculus Touch controllers, fully equipped with state-of-the-art hand tracking features." The battery life should last up to four times longer than with the previous Quest Touch controllers.

Of course, Quest 2 works with the games of its predecessor. In addition, you can look forward to future titles such as "Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge", "Myst", "Jurassic World Aftermath", "Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister", "Pistol Whip: 2089", "The Climb 2", "Rez Infinite" and many more. Quest 2 is also compatible with Oculus Link, allowing you to enjoy PCVR games including "Asgard's Wrath", "Stormland" or "Lone Echo", as well as upcoming titles such as "Lone Echo 2" and "Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond".
