IndustriekulTOUR Aabach was the first virtual museum in the canton of Aargau. Now there is a new tour to discover. The Sophie Tour takes visitors on a smartphone journey through 300 years of industrial history.
From 1 August, the IndustriekulTour Aabach, which we already reported on in the 2018 reporteda new tour.
Thanks to AR and VR, you can also see and hear exciting stories from contemporary witnesses. Patrons and working-class families come to life via smartphone. You can also experience various original locations from the centre of the action. The interactive game tours shed light on the historical content of industrialisation, but also delve deeper into the context of contemporary issues at each tour location.
The Sophie Tour is 1.6 kilometres long and takes around 50 minutes. It starts at Wildegg railway station and leads through seven interactive stations to the baroque castle gardens of Wildegg.
The story leads back to Pestalozzi
It is around the year 1830 and Sophie von Erlach-Effinger arrives in the village of Wildegg in her carriage. She decides to walk the last stretch to the castle. Visitors are allowed to accompany her.
On the way, you will meet the factory owner C. F. Laué, who will give you an insight into his villa. Visitors can browse through his sample book with him, in which he presents colourful calico prints. You can also take a look at his park, where you can see the noble guests strolling around. The less elegantly dressed pedagogue J. H. Pestalozzi can also be heard speaking.
Expansion of the offering
The concept seems to be well utilised. There are now a total of five tours that can be undertaken independently:
- HünderwAdeltour (the first tour offered)
- Guest worker tour
- J.C. Brunner Tour
- Ebinger tour
- Sophietour
The various locations are along the Aabach: from Hallwyl Castle via Seon, Lenzburg and Niederlenz to Wildegg. Admission is still free. The tour opens in the IndustriekulTOUR Aabach app, which can be downloaded from the Google Playstore and the App Store. More information can be found on the Website.
