Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed the final design of the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller. unveils. This will offer features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, but it could also be designed for next-gen VR, it is speculated.
Sony has so far kept a low profile when it comes to PlayStation VR 2, but it can be strongly assumed that it will be launched sometime after the PS5. The DualSense controller could already be prepared for this. There are narrow light strips on the top of the controller, which may indicate that the upcoming next-gen VR headset with built-in cameras will rely on inside-out tracking.
Inside-out tracking does not require an external tracking camera to capture movement, which has long been used in many existing VR headsets such as Oculus Rift S or HTC Vive Cosmos. For many next-gen VR games, the controller feature is unlikely to turn out to be too important, as Sony will certainly offer new and advanced VR motion controllers for PSVR2, but the PlayStation 5 is backwards compatible and there will certainly still be VR titles that can be played with the gamepad.
