It has been confirmed that Netflix will be launching a mobile game for the hit series in 2020 "Stranger Things" that is based on Augmented reality similar to "Pokémon GO" and "Harry Potter: Wizards Unite".
Unfortunately, not much is known about the game yet, but the smartphone serves as a window into the dark parallel world of the series, called "Upside Down". "Stranger Things AR will use GPS to track the player's location and integrate real locations into the gameplay via Google Maps.
Next Games, which has already developed the AR game "The Walking Dead: Our World", is responsible for the development of "Stranger Things AR". The third season of "Stranger Things" will start on 4 July 2019. At the same time, the top-down action game "Stranger Things 3: The Game" will be released for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms, but will not include AR/VR functions.
