PlayStation VR 2 & PS5 will not be released at the same time

There is no official information yet, but it is assumed that the PlayStation 5 will be released in autumn 2020. However, one thing is already certain: PlayStation VR 2 will not be released at the same time as the console.

Dominic Mallinson, Sony's Global Head of Research and Development for PlayStation, commented at the Toronto Collision Conference. According to him, there is no reason to launch the new PlayStation VR 2 alongside the PS5. Such a double launch would only confuse and overwhelm consumers, they say, which Sony wants to avoid at all costs.

So it could well be that PlayStation VR 2 will only appear 1-2 years (or even later) after the PlayStation 5. After all, Sony Interactive Entertainment is planning a new VR headset, which, by the way, could appear in several variants (entry-level model and some kind of Pro version). Otherwise, the PS5 will be fully compatible with the current PlayStation VR anyway.
