PSVR compatible with PlayStation 5

The Wired magazine Sony Interactive Entertainment paid a visit to Foster City, California, and spoke with the head hardware architect Mark Cerny about the successor to the PlayStation 4. Virtual reality was also discussed.

The good news is that the current PlayStation VR, as well as PS4 games, will be compatible with the new PlayStation 5. "I'm not going to go into the details of our VR strategy today, I'm just going to say that VR is very important to us and the current PSVR headset will be compatible with the new console," said Mark Cerny.

So he didn't want to reveal yet what PlayStation VR 2 will look like. According to the new information, however, the PlayStation 5 will offer much more hardware power than the PS4 (CPU based on the third Ryzen generation, new 7nm Zen 2 micro architecture, very fast solid-state drive, GPU is a custom variant of Radeon's Navi series, ray tracing is supported, etc.). Of course, this will also help a better VR display.
