LEGO has announced a new series of sets called "Hidden Side". The special feature: the building sets will be available via Augmented reality functions have. You can bring the LEGO sets to life via your smartphone or tablet.
At first glance, the LEGO sets look quite normal, except that they have a scary/horror theme. But if you catch them with the smartphone camera, they are displayed with all kinds of interactive elements. In this way, various mini-games can be experienced (see trailer). The matching app will be available free of charge for iOS and Android. A total of eight "Hidden Side" sets are planned for August 2019, which will cost 19.99 euros/26.90 CHF to 119.99 euros/149.00 CHF (recommended retail price). One official site for the series is already online.
In the press release it says: "LEGO Hidden Side opens up a whole new interactive play world where children play with one hand in the physical world and the other hand in the digital world. The LEGO Group today unveils the world's first in the toy industry: LEGO Hidden Side is a fluid play experience that is equally real and digital, allowing children to play with one hand in each world. Through the accompanying LEGO Hidden Side app, they bring to life an interactive and augmented reality-based ghost world hidden in the haptic LEGO building set. The total of eight LEGO Hidden Side sets for children aged seven and up, as well as the free app available on the Google Play Store and App Store, will be available in late summer 2019."
