A VR experience ("Hikari & Chikai VR") was recorded for Hikaru Utada's concert "Hikaru Utada's Laughter in the Dark Tour 2018". This is now available free of charge for PlayStation VR (via PlayStation Store).
The concert was recorded on 7 November 2018 in the Yokohama Arena. In the VR experience perfroms Hikaru Utada two songs from the role-playing game "Kingdom Hearts 3". They are "Hikari" (theme song) and "Chikai" (ending theme song). To make the experience more realistic, three different cameras and recording styles were used.
It says: "First, a 4K stereo/3D crane camera was used to film while moving forwards and backwards. Then the same crane camera was used to film around the left and right of Hikaru Utada. Finally, 6K 180-degree cameras were used to shoot from long distance and medium distance and zoom at the same time. Each scene was shot with the latest Sony PCL equipment."
Sony's Takao Uehara says"This VR experience gives you the feeling of being right in the arena. You can see her perform the two songs from different angles. Watch as she sings enthusiastically right in front of your eyes or from a distance to give you a greater overview of the entire venue." A trailer provides musical impressions.
