PEGI: 18
Rating (WoG/Games.ch/Metacritic): 93 % / 80 % / 72 %

With the teen horror game "Until Dawn", the "Until Dawn: Rush of Blood actually have little more in common than the name. But you should by no means miss out on the PSVR rail shooter. You are on the move in a kind of ghost train, in which not only creepy scenarios but also deadly traps and enemies await you. During the ride in your lore, you duck under obstacles and shoot at everything that could be dangerous to you. But more than that, because many other objects can also be destroyed and give the rail shooter an even stronger challenge and high score character. You can play with either the Dual Shock 4 or two Move controllers. For the most immersive experience, the Move version is definitely preferable. However, Rush of Blood is also fun to play with the normal gamepad.

PEGI: 18
Rating (WoG/VR ROOM/Metacritic): 89 % / 89 % / 77 %

There may not be too many big role-playing games for PSVR at the moment. Worth experiencing "Skyrim VR" but mainly because of its great class and not because there are few alternatives for the new technology within the genre. As fascinating as the game world in the region of Himmelsrand was without VR, you can now dive even deeper into the adventure with the headset on your head. In terms of content, you don't have to make any compromises, because "Skyrim VR" offers you the complete package with the main game and all the expansions released later. So you can also enjoy building houses here and tackle the quest series and other content from "Dawnguard" (vampire-werewolf expansion) and "Dragonborn" (additional area Island of Solstheim and dragon flight mechanics). The Persistance

Developer: Firesprite
Genre: Roguelike / Action / Horror
Release: 24 July 2018
PEGI: 18
Rating (WoG/VR ROOM/Metacritic): - / 90 % / 78 %

A damaged spaceship far from Earth and everyone on board is dead except for us? You've probably seen this before in other science fiction adventures, but it's not the same. "The Persistence" is anything but an off-the-shelf game! Your goal is to restore various on-board systems to somehow make it possible to return to the blue planet. Unfortunately, the other crew members, who have all been turned into zombie-like creatures after a failed experiment, get in your way. In order to survive against them and improve your chances in battle, you collect resources, make genetic improvements to your heroine, and craft and improve weapons at vending machines. Typical for a roguelike, you lose part of your progress when you die, all enemies respawn and the environment (explained sensibly in the game!) changes. Although "The Persistence" is no walk in the park, it always remains fair so that motivation remains high. Using a free companion app, you can also play together with a friend who can help you, but who also receives points if they lure you into a trap.

Suitable for: Stealth action fans with a penchant for demanding but always fair roguelike principles and massive combat systems.

Alternatives: Doom VFR, Farpoint, EVE Valkyrie

Superhot VR

Developer: Superhot Team
Genre: Action / Shooter
Release: 21 July 2017
PEGI: 12
Rating (WoG/Games.ch): - / - / 75 %

There are many terms that could be ascribed to "Superhot VR". But innovative is definitely the best way to describe the mixture of first-person shooter and puzzle game. In a virtual reality, we take on armed red enemies that we have to eliminate in a creative way. With a well-aimed throw of a bottle or ashtray, we disarm the opponents, grab their weapon and finish them off with it - whether with a pistol, shotgun or knife. This sounds simple, but it always has a challenge character, while we duck under bullets and always have to expect the next attack from all directions. The special trick here is that time only continues to run when we move, which requires tactically clever and foresighted action. An ingenious game concept that is even a bit better in VR than in the VR-less version with completely new levels and sensibly expanded game mechanics!

Suitable for: Friends of challenge-type shooters who are open to a challenging, creative and extremely innovative game concept.

Alternatives: Doom VFR, Farpoint, Arizona Sunshine

Firewall: Zero Hour

Developer: First Contact Entertainment
Genre: Action / Shooter / Tactics
Release: 29 August 2018
PEGI: 16
Rating (WoG/Games.ch/Metacritic): - / 74 % / 79 %

A little bit of "Rainbow Six" and a good portion of "Counter-Strike", that's how Sony's online tactical shooter could be described. "Firewall: Zero Hour" roughly outline. But that would be a little too short-sighted for the game, in which two teams of four compete against each other. While the attackers first have to hack several firewalls and finally a computer with sensitive data, the defenders have to thwart this plan. Due to the numerous selectable classes and the excellently designed maps, every game is completely different, so that boredom does not arise even after several rounds. Decisive for victory or defeat is not only your marksmanship, but also good teamwork and communication with your fellow players. While in many other games this fails because of the other players, this almost always works perfectly thanks to the great, active community.

Suitable for: Friends of online tactical shooters who value good teamwork and a willingness to communicate over rash solo efforts.

Alternatives: Doom VFR, Farpoint, Arizona Sunshine

Moss

Developer: Polyarc
Genre: Action / Adventure / Jump-and-run
Release: 27 February 2018
PEGI: 16
Rating (WoG/Games.ch): - / 90 % / 85 %

When people talk about love at first sight, it is usually about another person. Love at first sight, however, is also what we find with "Moss" happened. The compassionate fairytale story is lovingly integrated into the fantastic game world, and mouse heroine Quill will take your heart by storm. You steer the little white protagonist through the levels in a jump-and-run style, climbing, jumping or flipping switches. To reach your goal, however, you have to support Quill and manipulate the environment in her favour. This creates an inimitable bond between you and Quill that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

Suitable for: Lovers of atmospheric fairytale adventures with a beautiful game world, extremely likeable heroine and clever puzzles.

Alternatives: Astro Bot, Here they lie, Batman: Arkham VR

Doom VFR

Developer: id Software
Genre: Action / Shooter
Release: 1 December 2017
PEGI: 18
Rating (WoG/Games.ch/Metacritic): 90 % / 85 % / 72 %

It's no coincidence that Bethesda is represented in our top list with two titles at once, because in addition to "Skyrim VR", also "Doom VFR" the best that PSVR has to offer so far. Just like in the main game, in "Doom VFR" you take on the role of a marine to engage in fierce firefights with nasty demons and dismember them into their bloody individual parts. All the famous weapons are there, whether it's the double-barreled shotgun, the Gauss rifle or the shredding rocket launcher. Accompanied by brute metal sounds, this is not only visually and playfully extremely spectacular, but also offers an enormous variety of enemies and levels. Of course, the final destination is the abyss of hell itself, where you face off against the murderous chief demon in a gripping finale. The setting options are also exemplary, with which you can adapt the controls to your own needs and wishes in almost every point.

Suitable for: Fans of brutal first-person shooters with first-class technology, powerful sound and spectacular action.

Alternatives: Farpoint, Arizona Sunshine, The Persistence

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Developer: Capcom
Genre: Action / Shooter / Survival / Horror
Release: 24 January 2017
PEGI: 18
Rating (WoG/Games.ch/Metacritic): 94 % / 90 % / 86 %

Capcom's survival horror game "Resident Evil 7" not only offers plenty of action, thrilling boss fights and frightening shock moments, but also a strong story and first-class technology. A modern vision of horror and perhaps the best part of the legendary game series so far. The scope is also outstanding, because unlike many VR games, the campaign easily offers 15 to 20 hours of playtime. Those who do not yet own "Resident Evil 7" should definitely get the Gold Edition. In addition to the main game, it also includes all of the expansions that are also completely playable in VR, which expand the adventure in a high-quality and comprehensive way.

Suitable for: Fans of intense horror experiences without cheap jump scares, with great technique, high solo playtime and first-class playability.

Alternatives: Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, Arizona Sunshine, The Persistence

Farpoint

Developer: Impulse Gear
Genre: Action / Shooter
Release: 17 May 2017
PEGI: 16
Rating (WoG/Games.ch/Metacritic): - / 85 % / 71 %

With "Farpoint" Sony introduced its rifle-shaped input device Aim Controller. Not without reason, because with the "plastic gun" the immersion in this science fiction shooter reaches its peak. This is not to say, however, that the Dual Shock 4 controls are seriously detrimental to the gaming experience. However, if you want to see the full potential of the battles with aliens and robots in an alien world, you should definitely play it with the Aim Controller. The graphic implementation is beyond almost any doubt, and is on a par with the reference level of 3D action games for PSVR.

Suitable for: Shooter fans with a preference for science fiction settings with great graphics, gripping battles and precise controls.

Alternatives: Doom VFR, Arizona Sunshine, The Persistence

Astro Bot: Rescue Mission

Developer: Sony Computer Entertainment Japan
Genre: Action / Jump-and-run
Release: 3 October 20183 PEGI: 7
Rating (WoG/Games.ch/Metacritic): 94 % / 89 % / 90 %

The little robots made their debut in "Astro Bot: Rescue Mission already in the game collection "Playroom VR". They had already enchanted and thrilled PSVR owners back then, but in their first big game the developers have gone one better in every respect. In the game, you go on a rescue mission to free the crew members of your spaceship, who are scattered across several worlds, from their predicament. In principle, you control two robots, a small one with which you move through the variously designed levels in jump-and-run style, balance over girders on construction sites and sometimes complete tricky jumping passages or fast rail sections in a mine lorry, and a large one. With the latter, you stretch ropes over precipices or spray water on plants with a hose to create platforms or cool otherwise insurmountable lava. Developer Sony Computer Entertainment Japan is particularly successful in the boss fights at the end of each world, in which you take on a giant monkey reminiscent of Donkey Kong or a nasty octopus in a lava pool, among others.

Suitable for: Friends of innovative jump-and-runs with a good learning curve, spectacular boss fights, fantastic graphics and a little robot hero who is so cute and likeable that even Nintendo mascot Mario could become envious.

Alternatives: Moss, Super Stardust Ultra, Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin
