The Roguelike-shooter "In Death", which is already available for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality, will also be released for PlayStation VR on 27 November 2018, according to the Sólfar Studios have announced.
According to the developers, this is what it's all about: "In Death is a merciless first-person shooter with many elements from roguelike games. You'll be immersed in a surreal medieval world, taking on the role of the hero as you delve into the depths of purgatory and fight your way through the gigantic cathedrals and floating islands of Paradise Lost to restore balance to the celestial realm." The latest trailer shows what that looks like.
As the levels and enemies of "In Death" are randomly generated and set up, each new run should be unique and unpredictable. The challenge also lies in the fact that there is a permadeath and there are no save points within the chapters. So if you die, you have to start a chapter from the beginning. However, there is an achievement-based progression system with power-ups and powerful skills.
"It was important to us to perfectly harmonise the progression system with the difficulty level of the opponents. I think we succeeded in doing that: The difficulty increases in line with the player's own success and thus provides the lasting motivation that characterises a good roguelike." according to the makers. The Move controllers and also the DualShock 4 are supported.
