A perfect fit for Halloween: "Kobold" is a new kind of horror experience that aims to blur the line between cinema and VR gaming. The whole thing was nominated as the best interactive, narrative VR experience at the 2018 Raindance Film Festival in London and was honoured as the best virtual reality experience at the 2018 Venice Film Festival.
The German media production "Kobold" provides an experience in which you first watch a film and then enter the location in virtual reality. A 3D reconstruction of a real-life location was created and transferred to the VR experience. "Kobold: Chapter I" is already available in the Oculus Store for Oculus Rift and at Viveport for HTC Vive, but the corresponding film is still missing. This should be available free of charge in the coming weeks via the official site be made available.
Kobold VR" says: "Follow in the footsteps of an urban explorer investigating the mysterious case of a missing boy. Take the torch and discover the secrets of an abandoned villa in the middle of a dark forest in Germany. Immerse yourself in true cinematic realism, explore an interactive universe, collect clues and delve deeper into a mystical world where every action can have serious consequences."
