Start-up magazine "booster" combines print with augmented reality

The Swiss start-up magazine "booster" brings clever founders into the spotlight and, from the August issue, even into new worlds. Their ideas are presented on paper and via augmented reality (AR). This is also the best way to showcase solutions on the focus topic of sustainability in this issue.

The August issue of the Swiss start-up magazine "booster" sets standards. A large X appears 35 times on the more than one hundred pages, which means: There's more here! Videos, animations, pictures or other additional information can be accessed with a few clicks via mobile phone or tablet. Co-founder and editorial director Natalie Kistler says: "Who, if not a magazine for innovative start-ups, should lead the way here?" Augmented reality (AR) enables classic magazine articles to provide an overview and also show in detail, for example, videos or 3-D visualisations of how a clever idea works.

The launch of AR at "booster" fits in with the focus on sustainability: most of the Swiss start-ups presented are looking for answers to the big questions of the future with the help of digital solutions. For example, "booster" explains what ideas there are for sustainable agriculture and lets drones fly over the paper.

Start-ups will the AR entry made easy

As usual, the magazine can be found at the kiosk, in coworking spaces and as an electronic edition - at the same time, "booster" is ushering in a new era starting with the third issue. "The start-ups can present themselves at the cutting edge through AR," says Natalie Kistler. AR technology is mature and just about to conquer Switzerland. For this, the magazine is cooperating with the agency Xtend interactive, whose app makes it easy to dive into the AR world. And "booster" is further expanding its own capacities in the area of video and3-D visualisation. The editorial director emphasises: "This way, start-ups and companies can sit back and leave the complete preparation of content to us - from text to complex interactive presentations."

In the editorial office in Schlieren, everyone is welcome who is just curious or who is also interested in working together. Co-founder and multi-media specialist Pascal Wasinger says: "We welcome investors, young or established companies, foundations - anyone who cares about start-ups becoming even more visible. We see "booster" as a platform for the smartest founders in Switzerland."
