Technology Night

An interactive exhibition with current research projects, a children's laboratory with an experimental show for the little ones, the unusual Frackmobile created by graduates, virtual worlds and lots of music: this and much more is the Technology Night. On 6 July 2018, the ZHAW School of Engineering will open its doors from 18:00.

For one evening, the ZHAW School of Engineering in Winterthur offers a look behind the scenes and shows its laboratories and research facilities. Visitors can look forward to an exciting and interactive programme for all ages - including VR applications, of course! Admission is free.

Virtual worlds - one of the highlights

"Play, fly and talk for real in our virtual worlds" teases the ZHAW. From 18:00 to 23:00, visitors will find a wide range of innovations in Building T. For example, visitors can chat with the SoEren talking robot and even play a round of Taboo. The Töggeli box 4.0 with its integrated screen is also sure to provide plenty of entertainment. Equipped with special sensors, visitors can put their skills to the test at various stations in the Hercules digital tasks.
Those who want to fully immerse themselves in VR can try out the gyrocopter simulator. To manoeuvre the helicopter-like aircraft, visitors put on virtual reality goggles and take off. Only the control stick is real.
There is also something for the little ones. Children aged six to twelve can start their first experiments in the Kids' Lab. The lab tour and the many interactive exhibitions will also provide exciting insights for young and old.
But it's not all about research and technology. Two bands rock the stage and you can also watch the World Cup live in the marquee. And for those who like it hairy: the graduates' beards were traditionally allowed to sprout for 100 days - on this evening they will be shaved off.
The whole programme can be found here.
