Raiffeisenbank has been thinking about what the physical bank might look like in ten or twenty years. In order to be able to discuss this, the Dome Visual agency has virtualised a future, imaginary bank together with Raiffeisenbank.
"Our goal was to be able to enter the virtual bank with the help of virtual reality and to enable a virtual tour for the affiliated Raiffeisen banks within the framework of the 5 workshops in Switzerland. Virtual reality was used here as a tool to work out a structural and functional line of the future banks" says Andras Böger from Dome Visual.
The objective of the project in June 2017 was highly complex. On the one hand, an efficient, stable and flexible technical solution was needed for the planned workshop, on the other hand, there was a demand for very high quality in the realisation of the project.
Combination of multiple output devices
It was planned to project the virtual bank on a screen as part of a presentation and to view it simultaneously during group work in the VR glasses. Afterwards, the whole project was to be flexibly accessible to other employees, including the virtual reality experience. For this purpose, three different output devices were manufactured:
- 360 degree PC / tablet application for the presentation integrated in the homepage
- Samsung Gear VR glasses for group work at the on-site workshop
- Google Cardboard version for staff to take with them.
The main part of the project, i.e. the virtual bank in 3D, only had to be created once for the various output devices, including the furnishings, lighting and all the necessary materials. This greatly expanded the possibilities for use. After the virtual reality tour in the virtual bank was conceptualised, an additional text accompaniment was added so that the VR tour would function in a self-explanatory way.
Satisfied visitors
The project was successfully presented from September to October 2017 at the 5 Raiffeisenbank events in Zurich, St. Gallen, Bern, Bellinzona and Montreux. Approximately 400 visitors from the affiliated banks attended.
Customer quote - Felix Wenger, Head Channel and Distribution (Retail and Affluent) at Raiffeisen Switzerland
"The virtualisations could be realised with a reasonable amount of effort and also enable architectural laypersons to quickly and inspiringly engage with the concepts that have been formulated. In this form, a high degree of reuse is ensured.
