World of Tanks VR announced

Wargaming is entering the VR business, which is why, together with VRTech, it announced the founding of Neurogaming, a global, location-based VR games provider with in-house technologies.

The first game under development is "World of Tanks VR", where Wargaming wants to bring the battles from the tactical MMO to a completely new platform. Site-based, by the way, means that such VR experiences/games are not intended for home use. Concrete details about "World of Tanks VR" have unfortunately not yet been mentioned. "With location-based VR, we are making the experience more affordable and accessible. Additionally, unlike most other developers, our goal is to take the VR experience from a one-off experience to one that lasts over time - with story, co-op and competitive elements. Working with the World of Tanks IP and creating an experience for the 180 million-player community is a great opportunity for us," says Slava Makarov, "World of Tanks"-inventor and consultant for neurogaming

At the moment, Neurogaming is also working on "CinemaVR", a scalable, location-based entertainment VR experience focused on multiplayer and co-op titles. "CinemaVR has already demonstrated great potential in the CIS territory, captivating more than 180,000 players in 36 locations such as large malls and cinemas in the territory last year. Neurogaming will offer their Platform-as-a-Service to business customers who want to offer their own VR locations to drive the expansion of the technology this year," reads the latest press release.

"PolygonVR" is another VR technology that is in the starting blocks and is supposed to offer a high-end, location-based and full-immersion VR platform for longer-lasting multiplayer and eSport matches. According to the official description, "This technology has already been showcased at Gamescom and Tokyo Games Show 2017 and draws on both in-house and third-party content. PvP content has been in closed beta since late 2017. Additionally, there is second-screen support and latest standards such as direct-to-TV, digital and OTT channel support to connect the location-based VR experience with eSports platforms." "CinemaVR" and "PolygonVR" are located in Russia's largest VR park, "VR Park City". The complex covers 850 square metres and is located in Afimall, one of the largest shopping centres in Moscow.
