Various projects are already demonstrating the economic and usually also ecological benefits of education and training in VR. The motto here is: immersive learning through VR. And in this musical project, too, it is literally on or just under the table: why not practise your skills at the mixing board virtually to become a real DJ? With the Tribe VR DJ School app from DJ Kyroman and the Myramind music school for Oculus Rift, it should be possible in future to learn the craft without high acquisition costs and space-consuming equipment.

Learn skills that also work in real life

After Vinyl Reality from Berlin for the HTC Vive, another DJ app is now available - this time officially for the Oculus Rift. In Tribe VR DJ School for Oculus Rift, users can improve their knowledge of music and beat production at virtual mixing desks. The VR app uses virtual replicas of real equipment to create the most realistic immersion possible. As a result, those responsible promise a real increase in the necessary skills that can also be applied in the real world.

Ready for a trial lesson with the virtual teacher

Users currently have access to a mixing console and two different DJ decks based on real Pioneer models in the virtual environment. A virtual instructor shows the basics of mixing and how to use the devices. However, the app is currently still in Early Access and can be downloaded for Oculus Rift in the Oculus Store can be purchased for 4.99 euros. So far, only one lesson is available. But enough to get a taste of it and find out whether DJ life might suit you.

In addition to the instructions, there is also an integrated mode that allows you to try out different tracks. The music tracks are predefined in the app, so unlike with Vinyl Reality, you cannot add your own music selection.

In the future, the developers promise the integration of further lessons and the introduction of a Performancemode, which tests your skills after a few lessons. You can also expect the track list to be expanded.
