Bandai Namco operates a modern production facility in Tokyo (Shinjuku district). VR arcade hall, in der ab dem 9. Dezember 2017 eine neue VR-Erfahrung zu „Ghost in the Shell“ an den Start gehen wird.
These are „The Ghost in the Shell: Arise VR“. Up to eight players compete against each other in two teams of four. The players put on backpack PCs and a modified version of HTC Vive while they can move around freely on an area of around 240 square metres. They shoot at the opposing team with plastic pistols.
Die eigentliche Fläche ist völlig leer, doch in der virtuellen Welt erblickt man enge Gänge und Räume. Für die Ganzkörpererfassung wird ein Highend-Tracking-System verwendet. Eine Partie dauert zirka 30 Minuten. In Europa kann man „The Ghost in the Shell: Arise VR“ leider noch nicht ausprobieren, auch wenn es in der O2-Arena in London einen Ableger der Bandai Namco-Arcade gibt, die jedoch nicht alle Attraktionen bietet.
