Bandai Namco operates a modern production facility in Tokyo (Shinjuku district). VR arcade hallwhere a new VR experience for "Ghost in the Shell" will be launched from 9 December 2017.
These are "The Ghost in the Shell: Arise VR". Up to eight players compete against each other in two teams of four. The players put on backpack PCs and a modified version of HTC Vive while they can move around freely on an area of around 240 square metres. They shoot at the opposing team with plastic pistols.
The actual area is completely empty, but in the virtual world you can see narrow corridors and rooms. A high-end tracking system is used for full-body tracking. A game lasts around 30 minutes. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to try out "The Ghost in the Shell: Arise VR" in Europe, although there is an offshoot of the Bandai Namco arcade in the O2 Arena in London, which does not offer all the attractions.
