Skyrim VR & Fallout VR: Scented candles for a more intense gaming experience

To coincide with the launch of "Skyrim VR" and "Fallout VR", candles are being launched on the market to spread the scent of the locations in your own living room.

Virtual reality games can offer quite an intense experience, especially when a convincing and dense soundscape is built up alongside the visual experience. Even more immersion is provided by special scented candles, which have already been used in the case of the horror game "Resident Evil 7"were sold. It is well known that fragrances go directly into the limbic system, a functional unit of the brain that serves the processing of emotions and the development of drive behaviour. Apparently, the candle was a good additional sale, because after a short time, there were supply bottlenecks and the price went up.

Like a look in the direction of Amazon it will also be available for the two Bethesda games. "Skyrim VR and Fallout VR adapted specimens. They not only look different. They also smell quite different. The price is around 15 euros.

The Scent of Forest or Apocalyptic New England

After the candles for "Resident Evil 7" spread the smell of dried blood and rotting wood, the wax creations for "Skyrim VR" and "Fallout VR" will bring the natural scent of the forest and apocalyptic New England into the living room. The description of the "Skyrim" candle, for example, states:

  • Official licensed Skyrim product
  • Smells of the snow-covered mountains and pine forests of Skyrim
  • Product handmade in the UK
  • Provides an extra dimension to any gaming experience
  • Approximately 25 hours burning time

The product description for the "Fallout" candle is almost identical. All it says about the setting is: "Immerse yourself in apocalyptic New England with the scent of the official Fallout candle". That already sounds exciting without VR. The two candles are scheduled for release on 13 November 2017.

A testimonial from testers of the Resident Evil 7 scented candle, which is packaged in a short video - and which, however, speaks rather against the immersive experience - can be found on the website of 4players.co.uk. In my opinion, it looks like you just have to give it a try!
