The Abaton cinema in Zurich now has a virtual reality zone. There you can immerse yourself in virtual reality with films and games.
You can now experience what virtual reality feels like at the Abaton cinema in Zurich: Both games and 360° films are on offer in the so-called Virtual Reality Zone.
There is a wide range on offer: visitors can experience a virtual ride in a rally car, a jump from a cliff into the sea or a helicopter flight in a swivel chair. Controlling the headsets is very intuitive: the films can be started simply by moving your head.
VR Gamezone
In addition to the short films, there is a VR game zone with six stations. With goggles and two controllers in hand, you can literally immerse yourself in different game worlds. Two stations are equipped with Virtuix Omni gaming devices - a first in Switzerland. The person stands on a platform and walks through the world.
A total of 111 games are offered in the Gamezone - eight for the HTC Vive and three for the Virtuix Omni.
Various time slots available
In the VR Gamezone, time slots of 20, 40 or 60 minutes can be booked online or on site. During this time, various games such as Fruit Ninja, the Lab or Elven Assasin can be tried out. The prices are as follows:
- Regular / discounted (all Swisscom customers and Carte Bleue holders)
- 20 minutes: CHF 19.- / CHF 15.-
- 40 minutes: CHF 37.- / CHF 29.-
- 60 minutes: CHF 55.- / CHF 39.-
VR films for up to seven people at the same time
In the VR Cinema, visitors can buy a ticket and independently select the 360° films they want to watch for 30 minutes. A total of seven people can enjoy the film experience at the same time. The prices for the VR Cinema:
- Regular / discounted (all Swisscom customers and Carte Bleue holders)
- 30 minutes CHF 7.50 / CHF 5.-
Swisscom has been offering the VR zones together with Kitag Cinemas since 18 October.
