Mammut presents the new Eiger Extreme collection in 360° VR

Swiss mountain sports outfitter Mammut is breaking new ground for the launch of its fourth generation of the famous Eiger Extreme collection. In the spectacular 360° film, viewers race with speed alpinist Dani Arnold over the sharp summit ridge of the Eiger or embark on the "Magic Mushroom" route on the north face of the Eiger with extreme climber David Lama.

The spectacular 360° film for the launch of the fourth generation of the famous Eiger Extreme collection from Mammut not only takes viewers up and down the Eiger, but also shows the new collection in full action. The athletes of the MAMMUT PRO TEAM such as Dani Arnold, Stephan Siegrist, David Lama, Caro North and Ann-Aylin Sigg show the new top line in action. The individual scenes are framed with spectacular 360° aerial shots.

360° credibility on the Eiger

"This 360° VR film is the ideal medium for us. We achieve absolute credibility by accompanying our athletes and being able to show our new product range in action. What could be more authentic than the feeling of standing on the Eiger yourself?" says Christian Gisi, Head of Marketing Communications at Mammut.

Use of 360° VR at sell-in, retailer events and product launches

The new collection was presented for the first time in Grindelwald in October 2016. A select international audience simultaneously saw the new collection in action on VR glasses. Various retailer events in Switzerland, Austria and Germany followed in the months that followed. Even after the official launch of the product line, VR glasses are now available at selected sales locations.

Mammut is thus building on the great success of the #project360 marketing campaign and the multi-year collaboration with the 360° virtual reality agency CONCEPT360 on. The concept was developed together with the Munich agency Heye Grid and CONCEPT360. The 360° experience was realised and produced under the direction of Matthias Taugwalder.
In 2014, Taugwalder, Mammut and Heye Grid initiated the #project360 with the first 360° ascent of two spectacular alpine routes - the north face of the Eiger and the Hörnligrat on the Matterhorn. The highlight of the project was the realisation of the world's first complete 360° documentation of the famous south route to the summit of Mount Everest in May 2016.
