HTC Vive division could be sold to Google

How the business side Bloomberg HTC is negotiating with various companies about possible strategic investments and partnerships for the VR headset Vive. Google is rumoured to be interested in getting on board.

The Bloomberg report, which refers to anonymous sources, has not yet been published by HTC but Bloomberg is a renowned magazine, so there could well be something to the rumour. However, the plans have not yet been finalised.

According to the report, HTC is currently examining several strategic options. Even a sale or separation of the subsidiary "HTC Vive Tech" is conceivable. Will Google strike? The talks are said to be at an early stage and could still be cancelled.

Google and HTC are already cooperating on the production of the Daydream VR smartphone Pixel and the self-sufficient Daydream VR glasses, which will offer integrated tracking. So they know each other, so the rumour doesn't sound far-fetched. Google is also very financially strong and is currently expanding into the VR/AR sector.
