The "Chernobyl VR Project" will also be released for PlayStation VR, as the developer The Farm 51 has announced. Unfortunately, there is no date yet. The "Chernobyl VR Project" is already available for Samsung Gear VR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
The disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is one of the greatest tragedies of our time. On 26 April 1986, the fatal overheating occurred in the fourth block of the reactor. "Chernobyl VR" offers an interactive experience that also has a learning aspect. The VR experience makes it possible to understand the event through the stories of people who lived there before and after the tragedy.
The "Chernobyl VR Project" was created by combining 360 films, panoramas, 3D scanning of areas and buildings, 360 photographs, stereoscopic videos and much more. According to the developers, the result is a visual tour of the abandoned city of Pripyat and Chernobyl.
"Our development focussed on the history and what it was like to actually be there. So your experience is more educational than just sightseeing. You will be transported back to 26 April 1986 and learn the stories of Chernobyl residents and workers," says Dawid Biegun from The Farm 51.
