Neill Blomkamp works on VR film

The director Neill Blomkampwho is known from films such as "District 9", "Elysium" and "Chappie", is currently making a name for himself with his "Chappie" and "District 9". Oats Studios has been making a name for himself. He has released some very successful short films on YouTube, including "Rakka", "Firebase" and "Zygote". The films can be viewed free of charge via the official YouTube channel of Oats Studios can be viewed. Neill Blomkamp's next project is virtual reality.

The director has announced that his team is currently working on a twelve-minute VR film based on the Unity engine. The 3D engine is normally used for video games. So it will not be one of the usual 360-degree films. The viewer is supposed to get the impression of being directly on location. However, no information about the content is available at the moment. Since Neill Blomkamp is known for his sci-fi works, it could go in this direction. A name for the VR film is also missing and so far only HTC Vive has been mentioned as a supported platform. Whether other VR headsets will be considered is still unclear.
