"The Guardian" has been extending its journalism to virtual reality for some time and now has another 360 degree video published. First Impressions" is about experiencing the world from a baby's point of view. We won't remember it, but that's how we perceived our surroundings too. The video was reconstructed on the basis of scientific research. At first, the child only realises contours, then colours are added. At the end, depth perception follows and the child can recognise its parents, other people and objects.
Because neglect can have severe negative consequences for a newborn's brain, the 360-degree video aims to make clear how important social interactions are. Charles Nelson, Harvard professor of paediatrics, accompanies the VR viewers and reports on the topic. "First Impressions" is just one video from a whole series (see link) that "The Guardian" has produced for Google Daydream so far. In other works, you can explore the sewers of London or experience global warming. The video attached here is just a trailer. The complete experience requires the "Guardian VR" app, which can be downloaded via the Google Play Store can be loaded.
