The Tribeca Film Festival is one of the most famous film events in the world, and this year virtual reality will be a major theme once again. 29 VR films and interactive exhibitions by artists will be screened, 20 of them for the first time in public. One can look forward to some hopefully exciting international premieres among the VR works.
This will take place between 21 and 30 April 2017 as part of the programme items "Storyscapes" and "Virtual Arcade". The VR projects include feature films, music videos, documentaries and some experimental works. There should be something for every visitor. Filmmakers represented include Marshmallow Laser Feast, Gabo Arora, Baobab Studios, Oculus Story Studios, Penrose Studios and Within. At the official side of the Tribeca Film Festival will list all films, videos, etc. that will be screened.
Loren Hamonds of the Tribeca Film Festival, said of virtual reality, "As VR has evolved, so has storytelling. Our mission is to foreground the artists who are pushing the boundaries of the medium to realise promising and complete stories and transformative experiences beyond the demo phase."
